Version 1.06

It’s been a while! But with the influx of new readers, players, and GMs from the Kotaku article, we’ve gotten a whole lot of feedback and playtesting reports. So we’ve got a slew of tweaks, updates, and changes, big and small!

This version features a few changes to Races, such as Rito now being able to use their molted feathers as a Cloth material. It also features the first inclusion of material from Cadence of Hyrule, the “Cadence’s Shovel Strike” Spell. Swarms were altered to not be based off of the monsters’ Size, so they should be easier to use and more sensible to fight. And of course, there’s lots of minor corrections, clarifications, and wording alterations.

As ever, you can download the new version of the books here or here.

Remember That One Time?

Art by Jan Steen

Today, we’re highlighting an idea for a game session that isn’t terribly Zelda specific, but could be used in any tabletop system for a unique, irreverent, and enjoyable time: “Remember That One Time?”

“Remember That One Time” is a way to set up and play through some fun, light-hearted, comedic scenes, without worrying about exactly how the Heroes got themselves into that particular mess. It’s a great way to take a breather between epic quests, or to play a session while you’re missing important players.

This idea originally comes from a Reddit post by boomerxl, which we found while researching “beach episode” RPG sessions. It was so cool, though, we wanted to highlight it in its own post! Check out below for more details about how to use this idea in your own game.

Wild on the Web: Tabletop Simulator

Screenshot by Lord Fuse

Lord Fuse, a member of our community, has set up a board to play Reclaim the Wild in Tabletop Simulator! You can check it out on the Steam Workshop.

If you haven’t heard of Tabletop Simulator, it’s a way to play board games and tabletop RPGs with friends online. It’s a physics simulation of the entirety of a table (hence the name), including pieces, cards, dice, and whatever else you want to do, so it can handle just about anything. And now it can handle Reclaim the Wild!

Thanks to Lord Fuse! Now, get out there and try it out! And maybe flip a table when you get sniped by a Guardian Stalker out of nowhere. 😉

Post Idea: Summer Fun

It’s officially summer! Everyone’s been working hard all year – it’s time to head out to the beach, enjoy some sunshine, and take a break from your worries and your work.

It’s no different for Heroes in Reclaim the Wild – just like us, they could use a break from deadly dungeons, mind-bending puzzles, and hordes of evil foes. But if your Heroes aren’t getting up to their usual adventures… just what are they going to do on the beach?

Today, we’re presenting something a little different – small adventure ideas that are much more low-stakes, chill, and mundane, perfect for a ‘beach episode’ of your campaign. So grab a cold drink, find an umbrella to sit under, and read on!

Wild on the Web: A Drink to the Past

A Drink to the Past

The podcast “A Drink to the Past” recently reached out to us, asking to do an interview, or maybe a session of actual play. We said, “why not both?” And now, that episode of their podcast is out – you can check it out here!

Anyway, that’s how I (Elemental Knight) ended up on the air. It was a pretty fun experience! I talk about the system’s origins and design process, and then we get down to brass tacks and actually play some.

We didn’t end up finishing the adventure I had planned, but that’s okay. We got pretty far, and I think we managed to introduce a lot of what Reclaim the Wild has to offer! And hey, maybe we’ll finish it up on some future episode.
