Announcing the Winners of the 6th Annual Homebrew Jam

You’ve voted, we’ve counted, and now it’s time to reveal the winners!
EK, Mei, and I enjoyed reading all your entries, all of which were wonderfully written… and many of which fit our theme, Most Mario!
Seven entries were submitted, see below!

The Winners
In Third Place, there is… Casual Silver’s Monty Moles. Whether these are digging up the battlefield, working hard on maintaining Bowser’s airship armada, or adventuring with a motley crew, these fossorial foes (or frenemies?) will certainly enliven any Mario-based game.
Also in Third Place, there is… Wrathslayer101’s Mushroom Kingdom Compendium. This boundless bestiary boasts a boggling bunch of races!
In Second Place, there is… Nintaku’s Power-Ups of the Mushroom Kingdom. Plenty of power-ups to outfit your adventuring party with – or even the enemies, if the GM is feeling like a fun guy.
The Developer’s Choice is… Purple Panda’s Magic, Mayhem, Malevolence and… Luigi. This entry provides not just Mario content like the other entries, but also interesting mechanics that can be slotted into any game.
The Most Mario entry is… Justin’s Mario Expansion. This entry stands out by providing mechanics that allow the homebrew of Team Attacks, as seen in the Mario & Luigi subseries of games!
For Best Adventure… Regame’s World 7-2 Underwhere Road allows a band of Heroes to experience an afterlife they never would have expected, and the obstacles they face as they return to the world of the living.
Finally, in First Place is… Xaetamin’s Hyrule Bananza! From DK Isle to the fleet of King K. Rool, this entry allows you to play as or against Kongs, Kremlings, Fractones, and more!
If you’ve been counting, you’ve certainly noticed something: everyone’s a winner this time around! While the winnings will cost a lot of coins, we hopefully won’t be needing a Green Mushroom anytime soon.
As in prior years, we’re going to try and highlight all of these entries with their own individual articles in the coming year. We’ll also be contacting them directly, to coordinate their gift card rewards – so keep an eye out for that soon, winners!
Before we go, a shout-out to our partners at Paper Story for partnering up with us for this Game Jam. Check out the results of the Zelda-themed Game Jam at their Discord!
Thank you once again for the homebrew jammers for providing such wonderful entries, and for everyone who’s taken the time to read and vote on all these entries.
